Types of Submissions
Oral Presentations are single-speaker presentations on research, applied topics, and/or intervention techniques. Oral presentations will either be selected for a plenary session or will be grouped together in breakout sessions.
Plenary session presentations will be limited to 25 minutes in length to allow for 5 minutes of questions. Breakout session presentations will be grouped together with other presentations of similar topics within a 60 — 90 minute block. Breakout session presentations are limited to 15 minutes in length. Breakout session presentations will occur consecutively for the first 45 to 60 minutes, depending on the number of presentations grouped, and the last 15 or 30 minutes will be reserved for questions.
Poster sessions permit presenters to disseminate research findings, applied materials, and/or techniques within an atmosphere that encourages interaction with the audience. It is expected that the presenter of a poster will be present for the full poster session. Details on the exact time of poster session are TBD.
Submit the following information for oral and poster presentations:
- Title of the presentation.
- Indicate oral or poster presentation.
- Principal author: name, highest educational degree, department and institutional affiliation (as you would like printed in the conference agenda and on your name tag), and e-mail address.
- Name of co-authors, highest educational degree, department and institutional affiliation, and e-mail addresses.
- Abstract describing the research (500-word maximum). The abstract should include a statement of the problem, description of the subjects, method and procedure, results and conclusion.
- 3 Keywords.

Oral Presentation Format
Oral presentations will offer the opportunity to present your research in front of an audience. Presenters must submit final slides by October 10th, 2018 at 11:59PM CDT. Presenters will have access to a laptop, mouse, laser pointer, and microphone.
Poster Presentation Format
The poster session will offer the opportunity to present your research in the area of combat-or deployment-related PTSD and co-occurring conditions (TBI, sleep disorders, chronic pain, substance use disorders, suicide, psychological resiliency, etc.) and have substantive discussions with colleagues. Authors will present their posters on a 4 x 6 free-standing bulletin board. Poster presentations should incorporate illustrative materials such as tables, graphs, photographs, and large-print text, and materials should be clearly readable from a distance of three feet (primary text font should be 20 points or larger, and headings font at least 30 points). Posters will be assigned a bulletin board number. Push pins will be provided. Presenter must be available to present at the conference.
Deadlines for Submission
Poster submissions will be accepted until May 20th, 2018 at 11:59PM CDT.
Abstract Review, Selection, and Status Notification
Accepted abstracts will be notified via email by July 20th, 2018
If the Program Committee recommends that an oral presentation submission be considered for a poster presentation instead, the lead author will be notified of this recommendation. The lead author will have the opportunity to accept the presentation as a poster or decline presenting.
Presenters will be notified of the acceptance of their poster on a rolling basis.
With all abstract formats, including posters and oral presentations, the Program Committee retains the right to request additional information, ask that changes be made to improve a presentation, or decline to schedule a presentation the Committee does not find relevant to the meeting or that does not follow the guidelines for submission. Non-empirical research should not be submitted as a poster. Submissions should discuss research that has not been presented or published elsewhere.
Notification & Acceptance of Attendance
All submissions will be reviewed and evaluated by members of the Program Committee. Submitters will be notified of the acceptance (or rejection) by July 20th, 2018. Only the person who submits the poster will receive correspondence relating to the submission. It will be that person’s responsibility to notify the co-presenters of status and details. First author must confirm acceptance of conference attendance by August 10th, 2018 at 11:59PM CDT.
